Half Way Done with the CCM!

hey friends! half way done with the CCM today! woot woot! i dont have a lot of time to write, so im just going to cut to the chase and say what i want to say! This past week has been really good! I actually got called to be our district leader, which is pretty cool! im in charge of 11 missionaries and we all seem to get a long pretty good and all of the teachers keep telling me im the best one for the job because i teach by example. not sure if i believe them, but for now im just going to roll with it.
last tuesday i got to meet my mission president, which usually doesnt happen, but it did for me! there was a group of missionaries leaving the CCM, and the city central mission is so close to the CCM that the president of our mission came to get them. we only talked for a minute, but he seems like a nice guy!

Also, we actually got to break out of the CCM for a little while last PDay. we went to the temple in the morning, and then we went on a little city tour. we first headed to wendys, which tasted like texas roadhouse. who would have thought? then we headed to this relief map. its a 3D map of guatemala that is the size of half of a football field. we could see all of the geography and volcanoes (i think there are 23) and our areas, so that was really cool!
after that, we went to this underground supermarket thing. its honestly just a whole bunch of vendors sellling pretty much the same thing. cool to finally get out and see the people, and it happened to be in my mission, so maybe i will be there later! I also saw this super cool cathedral right in the middle of the city.
someone will have to look it up on the internet, because it looked like there was a lot of history behind it. i wanted to go in so bad, but they wouldnt let us.
Cammee B, tell bridger about Quentin L Cooks talk. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2014/10?lang=eng i beleive it was the preisthood one. the beginning of it is super good and i first thought of bridger when he started talking.
People, if you get the chance, see if you can go on a tour of the conference center. ive heard so many cool things about it and so much history behind it, that it makes conference so much more better. I dont know how, but find a way ( There is an online picture tour here: .https://www.lds.org/locations/temple-square-conference-center)
About Conference, i really thought the theme for the first day was caring for the poor and needy, which is strange considering where im at, right? so the first day was really cool because everyone in the CCM felt like conference was directed right at us. If you get the chance, read DandC 44,6.Behold, I say unto you, that ye must visit the poor and the needy and administer to their relief, that they may be kept until all things may be done according to my law which ye have received. Amen. also, i think Henry B Eyring is my new favorite speaker. both of his talks were so good, and they were my favorite, so if you get the chance go back and read them!  (A link to the talks: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2014/10?lang=eng)
a Few spiritual thoughts before i leave.

1. we got to watch conference which was super cool. it was the first time i watched every single session, and i didnt even fall asleep (fully) once. but the point im getting at, is right after conference, we had time for personal study. ive been reading in D and C, so i naturally opened my scriptures and started to read the next chapter. the very first verse i read was DandC 46,1. Hearken, O ye people of my church; for verily I say unto you that these things were spoken unto you for your profit and learning. . i wont tell you what it says because i want you all to go look it up, but it was a huge testimony builder for me.

2. here is my spanish translation for the week! (sorry i forgot last week)
"con respecto al propio testimonio, recuerden que lo que se da con gusto se conserva, mientras que lo que se guarda con egoismo se pierde...enseƱan y testifiquen. no hay una combinacion mejor." Thomas S. Monson.  "regarding the testimony itself, remember that what you give is kept happy, while what is saved are lost selfishness ... teach and testify. no better combination."

3. Challenge for all of you. Richard G Scott gave a super good talk in the sunday afternoon session. Read it again, and use the 4 tools he gives. i promise it will make your life better, especially the first one.  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2014/10?lang=eng
well my time is about up! lo ciento (Im Sorry)! Today we went to the temple, and ive now seen 4 temple videos. i like to get a new perspective on things, and the one we saw today is my favorite so far.
love you all and hope you have a good week!
Love, Elder Slaymaker

P.S. Dad, was i supposed to take money out of checking or savings? i dont need any right now, i just forgot which one. Gracias!
